Job Description
Porterville Medical Facility is looking to hire a Health Information Management Manager to analyze data, monitor quality, and be focused on the operations of the HIM areas, including coding and reimbursement, release of information, hybrid record maintenance, document imaging, chart deficiency analysis, physician record completion, transcription, birth certificates, MPI maintenance, and information storage retrieval and retention. Setting employee expectations participates in developing department planning and manages processes that measure, assess, and improve the quality of the hospitals management, clinical andor support activities.Manages all HIM daily operations to ensure customers are satisfied and their needs and expectations are met. Serves as acting Director of HIM in the absence of the Director. Integrates their departments services with the Hospitals primary functions and overall plan for care delivery and other departments. Develops and reviews house-wide and unit specific policies and where appropriate, coordinates policies with other primary functions andor departments annually. Achieves and documents desired staffing to patient ratios within targeted goals. Determines the qualifications and competence of department personnel who provide Patient Care Services and who are not licensed independent practitioners. Involved directly andor supports subordinate participation in the Employee Performance and Improvement process as measured by active participation in Quality Council activities annually, recommends capital equipment and physical space and resources appropriate to Patient Care needs and selects, orients, evaluates performance and competency of outside contractors and vendor services.
Skills Required
HS Diploma or GED. 5 years of HIM exp. Familiar with charting requirments pediatricnursing facility charts. Knowledge of Joint Commission and state regulations. Certified Coding Specialist with a min of 2 yrs of hospital coding exp or equiv education.
Skills Preferred
Ability to assume responsibility for decisions related to coding and sequencing.
